How to Repair the Transmission Shift Solenoid in an AC Propulsion tZero
The AC Propulsion tZero is a rare vehicle, and when it comes down to dealing with its issues, it can be hard to find a guide. Today, we will be considering a less typical issue: a faulty transmission shift solenoid and how to fix it.
Tools Needed
- 10 mm socket
- ratchet
- screwdriver (flat-head)
- drain pan
- new shift solenoid
- transmission fluid
Steps to Fix the Problem
-
Disconnect the Battery
Use your 10 mm socket and ratchet to disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will help you avoid any electrical problems during your work.
-
Locate the Shift Solenoid
The shift solenoids can usually be found on the transmission of your tZero. Check your vehicle's manual to be sure about the location.
-
Drain the Transmission Fluid
Put a drain pan underneath the transmission and remove the drain plug with your ratchet, then let the fluid drain completely.
-
Remove the Old Shift Solenoid
With the fluid drained, you can now access the solenoid. Use your screwdriver to remove the solenoid's bolts then remove the solenoid itself.
-
Install the New Shift Solenoid
Place your new solenoid where the old one was and tighten the bolts. Make sure it is in place firmly.
-
Refill the Transmission Fluid
Now, refill the transmission with fluid. Be sure to check your vehicle's manual for the exact amount required.
-
Reconnect the Battery and Test
Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Start your tZero and take it for a short drive to ensure that everything is working correctly.
This guide should help you to solve shift solenoid issues in your AC Propulsion tZero. However, always consider seeking help from professionals if you're unsure about anything during the process.
